Charles Mignon Comte De Marne Grand Cru - 750ml
Origin & Grape Varieties
Charles Mignon is a family-owned Champagne house based in Épernay, France. The Cuvée Comte de Marne Brut Grand Cru is a non-vintage Champagne produced only in exceptional years. It is crafted from a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims (Louvois) and the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, and Chouilly). The grapes are hand-harvested, pressed near the vineyard, and fermented in small stainless steel vats. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and is aged on lees for 36 to 48 months, with a dosage of 7 g/L to preserve its freshness and fruit character.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale golden hue with a fine, persistent mousse.
Nose: Rich and complex aromas of yellow fruits (pear, Mirabel plum), almonds, hazelnuts, white blossoms (acacia), and a subtle honeyed, toasted note.
Palate: Elegant and forthright attack, marrying the structure and texture of Pinot Noir with the balance and freshness of Chardonnay. The wine offers a creamy texture, with flavors of ripe orchard fruits and a long, mineral finish.
Food Pairings
The Cuvée Comte de Marne Brut Grand Cru is a gastronomic Champagne that pairs beautifully with:
Appetizers: Smoked salmon, oysters, and foie gras.
Main Courses: Pan-fried foie gras deglazed in Champagne, Saint-Jacques (scallops), and poultry dishes such as Bresse chicken.
Cheese: Soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert.
